# Keep cart links working

An agent that has found the right product can hand the shopper a link that opens checkout with it already in the cart. On Shopify that's a cart permalink, such as yourstore.com/cart/12345:1.

Check C3 in the Checkout path dimension, worth 4 points of 100 and measured by software.

## What we check

We build a cart link for a sampled product in the form `/cart/{variant_id}:1`, or use the permalink capability in your UCP profile, and follow it. It passes when a cart or checkout loads with the right product and price within 10 seconds, without a login or a CAPTCHA. We never submit anything.

This check runs in the full report with your authorization, and in the free snapshot only when your robots.txt lets GlassAisleBot open cart links.

## Why it matters

Agents hand shoppers to checkout through cart links.

## How to fix it

Remove the app or redirect that breaks cart permalinks. Typical effort: 1 hour.

1. Open a cart link yourself, as below. If it lands on the homepage or an empty cart, an app or a redirect is in the way.
2. Look for apps that take over the cart, such as some upsell, bundle or cart drawer apps, and for redirects on /cart paths.
3. If a password page, a location pop-up or a bot challenge appears on the way, the shopper an agent sends meets it too.

## Check it yourself

In Shopify admin, open a product, choose a variant, and copy the number at the end of its address. Then open this link in a private window:

It should open checkout with that product.
