# Keep pop-ups from hiding your products

Browser agents load your pages in a real browser, as a shopper does. If the first thing they see is a pop-up that covers the product, many of them never get past it.

## What we check

We load your homepage and sampled product pages in a headless browser at 1280 by 800 pixels and wait 3 seconds without clicking anything. A page fails when an element fixed over it covers 30% or more of the screen and holds an age check, a country or region prompt, an email sign-up, or a cookie banner while scrolling is locked. The score is the share of pages that pass.

A small cookie banner along the bottom of the page passes, and so does a pop-up that waits for a scroll or a second page view.

## Why it matters

Browser agents often fail to dismiss pop-ups and leave without seeing the product.

Agents that click and scroll on a shopper's behalf often miss the close button on a pop-up, or close the wrong thing. Either way the product stays hidden.

## How to fix it

Delay the pop-up until a scroll or a second page view, or turn it off on product pages. Typical effort: 30 minutes.

1. Open the app that shows the pop-up, such as your email or SMS sign-up app, and set it to wait for a scroll, some time on the page, or a second page view.
2. Turn the pop-up off on product pages if the app allows it, or show it as a small banner or slide-in that covers less of the screen.
3. If your products legally need an age check, keep it. This check will keep flagging it, and those points are the cost of staying compliant.

## Check it yourself
