Put price and stock in your page's HTML

Many agents fetch your page and read the HTML as it arrives, without running any scripts. If your theme fills in the price or the stock status with JavaScript, those agents never see it.

Check A4 in the Access dimension, worth 5 points of 100 and measured by software.

What we check

For each sampled product page we fetch the raw HTML without running scripts and look for three things: the product's name, its price and its availability. Each counts when it appears as visible text or in the page's JSON-LD structured data. The score is the average share of the three found on a page.

Why it matters

Many agents read raw HTML and never run scripts, so they miss the price or stock status.

Running scripts is slow and costly, so crawlers that read millions of pages often skip it. A page that looks complete in a browser can be missing the facts that matter to them.

How to fix it

Render price and availability in server HTML or in Product JSON-LD. Typical effort: half a day.

  1. Check where your theme prints the price and the stock status. Shopify's Liquid templates render on the server, so a Liquid theme usually passes. Trouble starts when an app or a custom section loads them in the browser after the page arrives.
  2. Make sure your product template outputs Product JSON-LD with the price and availability. Shopify's structured_data Liquid filter writes it for you.
  3. On a headless storefront, render product pages on the server rather than only in the browser.

Check it yourself

View the page source in your browser, not the inspector, which shows the page after scripts ran. Search it for the price as the page shows it. If it isn't there, agents that skip scripts can't see it either.
