Keep product pages within what agents read

Agents read pages within a budget. A page with too much text or too much code gets cut, and the cut can fall before the details that matter.

Check X2 in the Agent experience dimension, worth 4 points of 100 and measured by software.

What we check

On sampled product pages we measure the main content's text in tokens, counted at about 4 characters a token, and the size of the HTML. Full points when the text is 6,000 tokens or fewer and the HTML 1.5 MB or less. Half when one limit is passed, and none when both are.

Why it matters

Agents read within a context budget, and oversized pages get cut before the key details.

How to fix it

Remove duplicated content and inline scripts from product templates. Typical effort: 1 day.

  1. Look for text the page repeats, such as the same description in several tabs, long lists of related products, or every review printed in full.
  2. Remove apps you no longer use, since many leave code behind in the theme, and move large inline scripts and data into files the page loads.
  3. Show a review summary and the first few reviews on the product page, with the rest on a page of their own.

Check it yourself

Save a product page's source and check the file's size. For the text, 6,000 tokens is roughly 24,000 characters of the page's main content.
