Put your return policy in structured data
Shoppers ask agents about returns before they buy. A MerchantReturnPolicy block states your terms in a form software reads exactly.
Check T1 in the Policies and trust dimension, worth 4 points of 100 and measured by software.
What we check
We look for a MerchantReturnPolicy on your Organization or on your product offers and count four fields: returnPolicyCategory, the return window in merchantReturnDays unless returns are unlimited, the return fees, and an applicableCountry that includes the US. The score is the share of the four present.
Why it matters
Agents comparing stores check return terms; without structured data they guess.
Google reads the same markup for the return details it can show next to your products.
How to fix it
Add a MerchantReturnPolicy to your Organization JSON-LD with the window and fees. Typical effort: 1 hour.
- Add a MerchantReturnPolicy to the Organization JSON-LD in your theme, or have an SEO app output one.
- Set returnPolicyCategory to the kind of policy you have, merchantReturnDays to the number of days, returnFees to whether returns are free, and applicableCountry to the countries it covers.
- Keep it in step with your written policy, since that's the one shoppers hold you to.
