Publish your store's agent profile (UCP)
The Universal Commerce Protocol, or UCP, is how AI agents learn what a store can do for them, such as search its catalog, build a cart or hand a shopper to checkout. A store announces this in a profile at /.well-known/ucp.
Check D2 in the Discovery dimension, worth 5 points of 100 and measured by software.
What we check
We fetch /.well-known/ucp from your store. Full points go to a valid profile that names its UCP version, its services and its payment handlers, on version 2026-08-25 or later, with a capability to search or look up the catalog. Version 2026-04-08 earns 80% of the points. An older version, or a profile without a catalog capability, earns half. A missing or broken profile earns none.
Why it matters
Agents use this profile to find your catalog and checkout. Shopify publishes it when Agentic Storefronts is on.
Shopify's Agentic Storefronts are on by default for eligible stores. They list products through Shopify Catalog in ChatGPT, Google's AI Mode and Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Meta's assistants, so a missing profile usually means the channel is off or the store isn't eligible.
How to fix it
In Shopify admin, open Sales channels, then Agentic, and check eligibility and channel status. Headless stores serve the profile themselves. Typical effort: 15 minutes.
- In Shopify admin, open Sales channels, then Agentic, and check that the store is eligible and the channels are on.
- On a headless storefront, your own front end answers every request on your domain, so it has to serve /.well-known/ucp as well.
- If a redirect app or a proxy in front of your store sends /.well-known/ paths elsewhere, exclude them.
Check it yourself
Fetch the profile and look for the version near the top:
curl -s https://yourstore.com/.well-known/ucpIt should answer JSON whose ucp.version is 2026-08-25 or later.
